Ucom is proud to announce the launch of its 5G network in Yerevan, a significant milestone in the company’s digital transformation.
With this expansion, Ucom has established itself as the telecom operator with the largest 5G coverage in Armenia, having rolled out 5G in 35 regional cities and the capital, 19 other settlements, Myler Mountain Resort, along the Yerevan-Dilijan highway, and Bagratashen, Bavra, and Agarak border customs checkpoints.
Ucom’s network is being engineered and built in collaboration with Nokia, using their cutting-edge technologies to deliver unparalleled speed in connectivity.
The rollout will provide enhanced, high-speed mobile broadband internet connections and robust device integration to address the growing needs of individuals and businesses. This infrastructure sets the stage for innovations like seamless video conferencing, real-time data sharing, and the next wave of smart technologies.
Following its successful launch in Yerevan and other regions, approximately 65% of the population can now tap into this technology’s transformative potential, enjoying high-speed mobile internet connectivity.
“The launch of 5G marks a strategic investment in Armenia’s future. Beyond faster internet, this network lays the foundation for long-term economic development — from empowering rural communities with reliable connectivity to enabling industrial innovation and smarter infrastructure. At Ucom, we see technology as a driver of national progress, and this milestone brings us closer to a more connected, capable, and competitive Armenia. We thank our partners at Nokia for their expertise and shared vision in delivering world-class connectivity — and I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all Ucom staff — for believing in our strategy, for their unwavering dedication to our customers, and for the everyday work on the ground that keeps our promise alive,” said Gurgen Khachatryan, Chairman of the Board of Ucom.
“Launching 5G in Yerevan is a testament to our commitment to driving innovation and an unparalleled digital experience for customers across Armenia. With our expanded network now covering 35 cities and the capital, we are proud to lead the way with the most advanced 5G infrastructure in the country. This achievement reflects our dedication to empowering communities and providing the best possible services,” said Ralph Yirikian, General Director of Ucom.
“This successful 5G expansion is the latest milestone in Nokia’s continuing partnership with Ucom. Based on our extensive experience and industry-leading technology, we deployed a robust, highly responsive, and efficient 5G network, helping Ucom deliver an exceptional customer experience to its subscribers. This empowers businesses on their digitalization journey and provides individuals with advanced, high-speed connectivity. We look forward to further deepening our collaboration,” commented Dr. Rolf Werner, Senior Vice President, Head of Mobile Networks Europe at Nokia.
The new high-speed 5G network, which includes Nokia’s latest AirScale radio access equipment, 5G Core and IMS Voice Core, and IP routing solutions is available to all the subscribers of prepaid, postpaid, and corporate mobile plans (excluding mobile internet-only plans), who use 5G-compatible iOS and most Android smartphones.
The 5G network launch was celebrated on June 12th with over 5,000 visitors at a public music fest held at Season’s Park, Yerevan. The event began with official welcome speeches from Ucom and Nokia heads, followed by DJ lounge beats and performances from 12 Project, Leah, Parg, Nerses Avetisyan. The night culminated with Brunette, who premiered her new song “Try”.
The modernization and expansion efforts, including 5G expansion, will carry on, and Ucom will continue to update the public with new developments.
