The first “Armath” Engineering Makerspace in Georgia’s capital city was inaugurated at Tbilisi School No. 104, joining the 11 labs already operating across the country.

The opening ceremony was attended by Armenia’s Ambassador to Georgia Ashot Smbatyan, Armenia’s Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Araksia Svajyan, and Sargis Karpetyan - CEO of the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE). Georgia was represented by Tamar Makharashvili, First Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth.

Launched in 2011, “Armath” is Armenia’s flagship national program for non-formal engineering education, implemented by UATE with the support of Armenia’s Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports. Today, more than 630 “Armath” labs operate in Armenia, covering every second school in the country.

The program’s reach extends well beyond Armenia. “Armath” makerspaces are already established in the USA, France, Kuwait, Bangladesh, India, Eswatini, and Georgia—where the network has just expanded with this new addition in Tbilisi.
